Horizon Networks wishes to advise consumers that one of two power transformers at the Transpower Edgecumbe substation is currently out of service for emergency repairs. As a result, this has reduced the security of supply to most of the Whakatāne District.
At the moment, whilst emergency repairs are being carried out, there has been no impact on customer supply.
Transpower expects the transformer to be back in service and the security of supply restored by Friday, 2 June 2017. Whilst on one transformer there is a very low probability of a failure on the remaining transformer. However, should an event occur, customers can expect an extended outage of supply.
As we enter the winter season, Horizon Networks wishes to remind customers to keep trees trimmed and well away from power lines and to be prepared for the possibility of power outages.
Horizon Networks recommends checking emergency supplies, generators and evacuation plans. For more information / advice, please visit www.getthru.govt.nz.
