HORIZON ENERGY GROUP APPOINTS NEW INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR
Horizon Energy Group has appointed Ms Lorraine Witten as an independent director to the Board effective from 1 November 2018.
Ms Witten replaces current Board member and Chair of Audit and Risk Committee, Mr John McDonald, who is retiring from the Board in January 2019 following a period of 10 years of service to the Company.
Horizon Energy Group Chair, Mr Tony De Farias thanks Mr Mcdonald for his invaluable contribution to the Board that has contributed to the growth and development of the Company and his leadership of the Audidt and Risk committee during his time on the Board.
“Following an extensive search process, I am pleased to welcome Ms Witten to the Board and she brings with her considerable senior management and extensive governance experience. Ms Witten will be appointed as the Chair of the Horizon Energy Group Audit and Risk Committee, said Mr De Farias”.
The process for appointment included approval from Eastern Bay Energy Trust (EBET) as the 100% shareholder of Horizon Energy Group. EBET Chairman Don Lewell said “The Trustees are fully supportive of Lorraine’s appointment and confident that she has the skills, experience and understanding of the company and its significance for the EBOP community”
Ms Witten is a business person with extensive experience in high growth and high change environments. Her skills are in technology, ICT, construction, services and network economics, where she has 30 years’ experience in senior management roles. Ms Witten spent five years in Telecom as General Manager of the Mobile network and business.
She is a Chartered Fellow of the NZ Institute of Directors with 20 years governance experience in strategy, health & safety and risk.
Ms Witten is a professional Director and is currently Chair of the company she founded in 2007, Simply Security Limited. She is also Chair of ZAG Limited, Star Now Limited, and vWork Limited. She is a Director of NZX Listed Rakon Limited and TIL Logistics. She is also a member of the Audit & Risk Governance Committee for the Department of Corrections.
Ms Witten holds a Bachelor of Management Studies (Hons) and is a Chartered Accountant. She is based in Wellington and has two teenage children. Her interests are travel, hiking, art, reading, cycling and interior design.
